With a keen eye for detail and storytelling, Kirstie specialises in costume design for the film industry, where she combines technical precision with artistic innovation to bring characters to life.
With an Eager interest in sustainable fashion and working practices, Kirstie also has her own small fashion brand (Bonnie Clò) which specialises in upcycled and recycled clothing.
a passionate and versatile freelance costume and fashion Professional with a strong foundation and Honors degree in fashion design. Her education at the Scottish Borders campus, renowned for its rich textile history, has provided a deep understanding of textile properties and applications. She brings expertise across the full spectrum of the design process, including concept creation, pattern cutting, tailoring, and sourcing.
Experience
After graduating in 2021, In the middle of the pandemic, Kirstie began her career as an in-house costume designer at a small independent film company, where she quickly became immersed in the full scope of the costume department. Within a year, she progressed to Lead Costume Designer and Maker, taking creative and practical responsibility for designing, constructing, and managing costumes for three feature films between 2022-2024. This role involved leading the costume department both on and off set, overseeing fittings, sourcing and budgeting, and ensuring continuity and smooth workflow throughout production.
In early 2025, she made the decision to move to being a freelancer, allowing her to expand into collaborating with a wider range of artists and productions. Kirstie creates custom costumes and undertakes commission-based projects as a freelance costume designer and maker, with a strong focus on character-driven storytelling. Alongside commissions, she has experience working across wardrobe departments for film, advertising, concerts, private events and photoshoots.
